LONDON (AFP) - Britain's overseas security service, MI6, has turned to social networking website Facebook to help recruit new agents, it emerged Sunday.
"The open recruitment campaign continues to target wide pools of talent representative of British society today," a Foreign Office spokeswoman said.
"A number of channels are used to promote job opportunities in the organisation. Facebook is a recent example."
MI6 launched Facebook job advertisements a few weeks ago to try and reach a larger variety of people, she added.
The intelligence service began using radio and newspapers for recruitment more than two years ago. Budding spies can also apply for jobs at the MI6 website.

This is awesome for me. I'm hoping to one day work for the FBI or CIA in the near future. Hopefully, they will do this too eventually! I guess I need to delete my embarrassing "tipsy" pixs.
Just wanted to share this with everyone.

You can STLL do it! The AMERICAN DREAM baby!
2Yeah being in the FBI would be my dream come true!
Oh man, I so want to be in the FBI or CIA.
So so baaaaad!
3Yay Laura!!!
Maybe one day we will be in the same training class?
4Heck yeah. We will represent the youngins!
5Do they hire old farts who are in decent shape? I can still run a couple miles, eventually..
6to do some paperwork or something...
Just Kidding Dave!
7Even to do paperwork you must pass the physical and mental exam which includes a polygraph done by a highly trained agent!!
8Yeah that's TRUE Laura. I have a book on how to get into the FBI and damn I need to start running again and probably lose like 10lbs too!
I also need to start learning some other languages. They love that!
9I read a book a while back called Blowing My Cover that was all about a chick in the CIA. It took a lot of the mystique out of it for me... so it good in that it made me see that its not like the movies!
10Rrrrrrrrr, I am unsure if I'd be able to get in.. I work out at least 5 times a week, but, I can't run to save my life. It's hard with being anemic.. STILL!! I thought I was all better.
Oh well. I need a miracle.
11Awwww Laura.
I'll help you out! I'll run till the end with you.
12I agree Haus! Reality is NEVER like in the movies.
13I'd have to do it in parts.. After a while without enough blood in your body you just don't function.
I'll run with an iron iv in. LOL
14That book was a quick read and it was pretty good, I couldn't believe how much money the CIA throws away on these "assets".
15Haus do you rememeber the book title and author? I think I may have seen it a LONG time ago and Barnes& Noble but there is probably more than one book like that out there.
LOL Laura. You're SUCH a trooper! I love it.
16I do what I can with what I've got!
17Its by some girl, something Moran and its called Blowing My Cover
18LOL thanks Haus. I'll check it out right now on Amazon.
19Darn, I forgot the polygraph. I'd have to tell them about my exoctic past...
20Shop - Its an Ok book, not great but not a bad read if you're bored one afternoon!
21Hmmm yeah I'll probably check it out at Barnes & Noble with a nice Grande cup of Starbucks. LOL Now that my boyfriend is gone I have a little more time on my hands.
22I read Blowing My Cover a few weeks ago. It's an interesting book, but the author has a liberal perspective. I'm not sure she why she wanted to be a spy - seemed to me she would have been better off as a detective or private investigator - because she had a problem "using" people to get information that would help our country.
23i read it years ago bren, i only remember being lukewarn on it. she def. came off as pretty egotistal though.
24Oh, yes, she complained that their weren't a lot of kids from the smart schools going into the CIA. I sensed the ego and the elitism.
