After drinking my morning OJ and checking out the latest headlines, I log onto Citizen Sugar only to find yet another article regarding the price of Sarah Palin’s clothes. Now I’m not saying this wasn’t newsworthy…about four weeks ago – but like some people have been saying, there are way more important articles to be posting on Citizen. So in the hopes that Citizen will start stepping up, I propose that we list topics for discussion. You know, noteworthy things that are actually happening in the world today – not four weeks ago.
I haven’t given up on Citizen but I’m seriously thinking that if you want to comment on hard news then you have to search for those articles in the groups. And that’s just sad considering what Citizen was like back in the day. So in a perfect world, what would you guys like to be talking about on Citizen?

1. Auto industry bailout.
12. Barack's chief of staff - who is he, what's he known for, pros/cons, etc
3. The Washington Post admitting that Palin actually HELPED McCain's campaign.
4. Bill Clinton's shady business dealings as a liability for Hil's chance to be Sec. of State
5. What happened at the G20
6. Obama adviser lobbied to protect Fannie - A transition adviser to President-elect Barack Obama earned millions of dollars overseeing an office that led a lobbying effort to prevent increased oversight of mortgage giant Fannie Mae
7. Forecasters saying we're in for a 14 month recession
btw, as if it isn't obvious --- I gave up on Citizen about three months ago. Tired of reading the Huffington Post disguised as something else.
2I gave up on Citizen when Sy left. It just wasn't the same without her.
3I'm slowly getting there myself. Sad, sad state of affairs.
4I'm hoping that Citizen will get back to "normal" now that the election is over, and we can get back to bashing the President, well, the next President anyway. I'm sure that won't happen because there aren't any consercatives on the board, but I can always hope.
5you're making me blush
Bashing the president?! That's blasphemy Dave!
6oh and if anyone wants links or more info on my 'ideas' - let me know.
7How about sending those ideas to Citizen (whomever she is), Liberty and Molly?
8I'm in the dark, sy, so hit me with some links!
9Oh i totally gave up. Yesterday? 3 posts about BO being on 60 minutes.
What they should have on there.
1) the 30th anniversary of Jonestown. First and only time a US congressman was murdered, Jim Jones was considered a community leader (won the MLK humanitarian award!) and a darling of the california government, he believed in socialism, left all his money to communists and its because of him we have the "kool-aid" reference at all.
2)Bailout of auto industry
3)Obamas scrutiny of Clintons past.
10Sy, I would like links as well.
11Sy, those are really good ones!
I agree, I gave up on Citizen when the nuts took over and were not kept in check.
I have to deal with enough cr@p in my "real" life, I don't need it here.
How about Senator Frank's relationship to Fannie / Freddie?
12(I understand he had a lover who worked for one of those two at the time of their dalliance.)
How about some analysis of the factors behind the mortgage crisis, back to the time of the Community Redevelopment Act?

CP - I honestly did not know that Jim Jones is the reason we have the kool aid reference. That's pretty scary.
13UGH. I gave up on Citizen 4 months ago. Too much biased, bashing, and immaturity. I have other things in life to be worried about than being bullied by people on here who don't even know me. *jealousy*
whatev to them and that site. It's a mess.
14i gave up on sugar once i found this group!
15sorry- gave up on CITIZENsugar
16Sorry I was in a meeting!
1. Auto industry bailout. (that one is EVERYwhere)
172. Barack's chief of staff - who is he, what's he known for, pros/cons, etc (www.dcexaminer.com/opinion/columns/TimothyCarney/Emanuel_Used_Political_... and www.dcexaminer.com/opinion/columns/TimothyCarney/Emanuel_Will_be_Wall_St...)

4. Bill Clinton's shady business dealings as a liability for Hil's chance to be Sec. of State (I've read it better in print, can't find the digital version so you'll have to deal with this one - www.nypost.com/seven/11182008/news/politics/bubba_vexes_vetters_139248.h...)
5. What happened at the G20 - Haven't read much about it, want to know more... (www.csmonitor.com/2008/1117/p01s03-usec.html)
6. Obama adviser lobbied to protect Fannie - (www.washingtontimes.com/news/2008/nov/18/obama-adviser-lobbied-to-protec...)
7. Forecasters saying we're in for a 14 month recession (www.reuters.com/article/topNews/idUSTRE4AG54L20081117?feedType=RSS&feedN...)
wow it didn't get flagged! Go me!
18BTW, the Guardian is reporting that Hilary accepted the Sec of State position.
19www.guardian.co.uk/world/2008/nov/18/hillary-clinton-obama-white-house
sy, ugh. that sucks.
20Oh well, that means she's out of the Senate at least, right?
21Dave: Out of the Senate, and very possible out of work in four years.
22(When BO is voted out....)

I'm not sure how I feel about Hillary as Sec of State. Part of me is glad she is out of the senate, but not sure I want her in that position.
23SKB, I think she's less likely to pour tea than Obama would be.

Thanks for the links sy! I was wondering about the G20 thing you posted...gonna go read the article now.
I gave up on citizen sugar about month ago. I just can't even go to it anymore, i get too angry. (sigh)

25A point of agreement: Team Blue is bored with Citizen too. Wondering if stuffing the suggestion box or hijacking posts would get Citizen's attention.
26Hijacking posts? How does that work...
27I was just going to say that Steph
I think everyone (Red, Blue, Purple, etc.) is
getting bored with Citizen.
And as someone with a more liberal viewpoint, I'll say that I still enjoy reading the more conservative comments, even if I don't agree with them...I like to see all opinions.
28Things get boring when any group degenerates to a closed, self-congratulatory society.
Lack of civil discussion often drives out opposing viewpoints.
...just sayin'....

I posted this on TS's discussion in one of the Citizen groups, but I'd like to see more articles about the races that are still undecided.
30Or how about a story about how Joe Lieberman is still a member of the Democratic Caucus and is keeping his committee chairmanship?
31Also, gas is at its lowest price since March 2005:

There are a ton of other good stories on Drudge, too!
32I gave up Citizen long time ago.
33It's a joke.
I'm with lilkimbo. How about gas?
My husband paid $1.98 for gas yesterday. That's amazing!
What about the rise of big-league piracy off the African coast?

It's sad that I'm suprised Citizen hasn't covered the pregnant dad story. I mean that's a legitimate story. Not like the Cindy McCain affair story which really had no legs to speak of.
I'm loving the gas prices! and I'm loving that Lieberman is keeping his position. And seriously, what's with all of the pirating? I mean if you have cargo worth $100 million, you should probably spend some change on some security for said cargo.
35It's all the fault of this man:
36They posted the Lieberman story on Citizen! Yay, a real story.
37Nah, isn't he based in the Caribbean?
38Besides, he has more style and flair than these (reportedly) Somali pirates.

He's inspiring a whole new generation of pirates!
39I gotta tell you, that is one pirate that can steal my booty anytime.
40There is also a good story about an anti-global warming movie. At least we have that.
41Piper
42Piper, PLEASE no more about the pregnant "dad". That whole story makes me ill, and NOT because he's a transgender. It makes all of us in the pacific northwest look like a bunch of hicks and hillbillies.

I hear what you're saying, and it's unfortunate. I just wanted you to know that we're not entirely satisfied with the content over on Citizen either. We can agree on that?
Piper-Maybe it's cause every other Sugar site posted it? I think I saw it 3 times?
Regardless, NO MORE PREGNANT DAD! Please, please pleeeeeeease? Pretty please?
44Didn't know that. I need to branch out in sugarland more.
45It's like a whole new world
46And I wasn't coming down on YOU either Piper, I finally re-read my post and it was kinda rude. NOT my intention. I'm just so tired of that dude. LOL

Hey I'm liberal and I haven't been blown away by the selection of liberal posts post election and that's not even considering the lack of conservative/republican/critique of democratic actions posts. Been spending more time on Liberal and Conservative sugar then I have on Citizen.
Yeah and there is NY Times and CNN, but there is no one to talk to except myself.
48Holy crap Steph and I agree on something. This is a day for the record books. How would we hijack threads? And I would be willing to go back to citizen if 2 things happen. 1) it becomes interesting and unbiased and 2) we go back to being civil with each other. If those two points are addressed, then I am perfectly happy at Conservative sugar.
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
49cine, hijacking's easy, and unless someone complains I don't thing Team would get involved.
50I like the idea!
Your point (2) is a bit more problematic, though.
