A German court approved Hamas flags at anti-Israel protests this week.
The Jerusalem Post and ROP reported:
A court in the German capital struck down an administrative ban on Hamas flags, clothing and banners on Friday, but left in place the ban on invoking Hamas Foreign Minister Mahmoud Zahar's call to murder Israeli children worldwide.
The decision paved the way for supporters of the Islamist movement to march in anti-Israeli rallies on Saturday with pro-Hamas paraphernalia.
The Hamas Charter calls for the "obliteration of Israel."
Meanwhile... The German police are banning Israeli flags.
The Jerusalem Post reported:
During an anti-Israeli demonstration organized by the radical Islamic group, Milli Görüs, which attracted 10,000 protesters last Saturday in Duisburg, two police officers stormed the apartment of a 25-year-old student and his 26-year-old girlfriend and seized Israeli flags hanging on the balcony and inside a window.
The pro-Hamas protesters cheered "Alluha Akbar" as the German police ripped the Israeli flag out of the window.
...When asked if the Duisburg police plan to confiscate Israeli flags from supporters who demonstrate against an anti-Israeli protest slated for this coming Saturday, Ramon van der Maat, a Duisburg police spokesman, told The Jerusalem Post that, "we have to see what is expected" at the protest, adding, "It depends on the situation and one cannot, across the board" say that Israeli flags will be permitted.
No Romeo
That's absolutely outrageous!
Israel is a nation; Hamas is not.
It sounds as thought there is no clear rule of thumb or rationale for enforcement, either, which is concerning.
1This is a clear case of anti-Jewish sentiment. I would've thought Germany of all nations would be beyond that by now. It's amazing how people can forget history, and this also shows that those who ignore history are doomed to repeat it.
2How nice of them to ban the call to murder children. Germany of all places should know what happens when you indulge extremists. When you side with murders........ you don't get up.

I've been considering the reason for this action, my suspicion is that Germany is afraid of angering Hamas supporters. There has been a lot of islamic migration throughout Europe in the last 20-30 years, and there are now substantial muslim communities everywhere.
I think we may need to widen the focus to get a better sense of what's driving this story. Found an item that may put it in better perspective: "The Intifada is globalized as the Gaza War becomes a world war"
On January 10, the war between Israel and Hamas became a global conflict. No longer confined to the Gaza Strip, the fighting spread to cities around the world: what were billed as “anti-war” demonstrations from Los Angeles to Copenhagen and beyond were in fact overtly pro-Hamas demonstrations, and on Saturday, January 10 there was a unprecedented eruption of violence and extremism in dozens of European and American cities, surpassing anything seen at anti-war rallies in recent years....

You would think this would be more reason not to give in to Hamas and its supporters. They will spread hate throughout the world with out any fight. Why, because people are afraid of them. They can win just on the spread of fear.

Agreed.
6There should have been resistance years ago, when they started demanding special treatment as they spread through Europe and the West.
Did they fight against the Nazi's in the beginning? They always seem to learn the hard way. They catered to those who will kill them as fast as look at them.

These guys, they all figure accommodating the radicals will mean that the islamofacists will attack someone else first.
it didn't work for India, or Holland, and I serious;y doubt it will work for the rest
of Europe either. Bullies thrive on weakness, and run from strength.
8About one fourth of the way down this page there's a video clip, and the following:
"Here’s the video, and the original “live-blogging” description of what happened:
Today, 10.000 people demonstrated against Israel here in my hometown Duisburg (Germany) and to express their solidarity with Hamas. So, my girlfriend and me put two Israel flags out of the windows of our flat in the 3rd floor. During the demonstration which went through our street the police broke into our flat and removed the flag of Israel. The statement of the police was to de-escalate the situation, because many youth demonstrators were on the brink of breaking into our apartment house. Before this they threw snowballs, knifes and stones against our windows and the complete building. We both were standing on the other side of the street and were shocked by seeing a police officer standing in our bedroom and opening the window to get the flag. The picture illustrate this situation. The police acquiesced in the demands of the mob."

The video clip is nothing exceptional. However, it seems to confirm my suspicion that the police were trying to defuse the situation, rather than support one side over another. The intolerant "nazis" here are not German.
Grandpa: The Netherlands has been more resistant to islamic cultural imperialism than some other nations. Remember, that's where the film "Fitna" originated.
BTW, the country is "The Netherlands". North and South Holland are two of twelve provinces.
"Fitna" is a product from Geert Wilders, an outspoken Dutch politician. From Wikipedia: "He is for free market, for unrestricted freedom of speech, for a small government and against multicultural relativism and politically correct dogmas. Geert Wilders favors the restriction of immigration to the Netherlands, particularly from non-Western countries.
As defender of free speech and critic of Islam,[14] he believes it to be in conflict with Dutch law.[15]"
More about Wilders from Wikipedia:
"Referring to the increased population of Muslims in the Netherlands, Wilders has said:
"Take a walk down the street and see where this is going. You no longer feel like you are living in your own country. There is a battle going on and we have to defend ourselves. Before you know it there will be more mosques than churches!"[18]
Later, Wilders suggested that Muslims should “tear out half of the Koran if they wished to stay in the Netherlands” because it contained 'terrible things' and that Muhammad would “in these days be hunted down as a terrorist”[19].
On 8 August 2007, Wilders opined in a letter[20] to the Dutch newspaper De Volkskrant that the Koran, which he called a "fascist book", should be outlawed in the Netherlands, like Adolf Hitler's Mein Kampf.[21] He stated that: "The book incites hatred and killing and therefore has no place in our legal order."[22]"
Unfortunately, I believe he's viewed in many circles as a crazy right-wing nutjob.
9However, the way things are going, that opinion may change.
Holland is also the sight of the murder of Theo van Gogh by a Muslim (Mohammed Bouyeri) who disliked his movie regarding the treatment of women in Islam "Submission". The film was written by Ayaan Hirsi Ali and she lives with death threats.

Thanks, Sam. I had already run on too long, so I didn't include that one.
Here's a related story from November 2004.
"Dutch leaders issued with the death threats since the murder include: Ayaan Hirsi Ali, a Somali refugee and former Muslim who is a liberal member of the Dutch parliament and high-profile critic of Islam; Geert Wilders, a right-wing populist opposed to Turkey joining the EU; the Immigration Minister Rita Verdonk, and Job Cohen, the Mayor of Amsterdam.
"Ms Hirsi Ali and Mr Wilders have both been taken to safe houses by Dutch police. Dutch newspapers reported that police are worried that the threats – by telephone calls and e-mails - were evidence of a co-ordinated attempt by Islamic radicals to target politicians seen as "enemies of Islam"."
http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/news/world/article503307.ece
Ali is a Dutch feminist who wrote the screenplay for van Gogh's film. Her story is also interesting.
Excerpted from the Wikipedia entry about her:
"On April 27, a Dutch judge ruled that Hirsi Ali had to abandon her house—a highly secured secret address in the Netherlands. Her neighbors had complained that living next to her was an unacceptable security risk to them, although the police had testified in court that it was one of the safest places in the country due to the large number of personnel they had assigned there.[30] In early 2007, she stated that the Dutch state spent about 3.5 million euros providing armed guards for her, and the threats made her live "in fear and looking over my shoulder", but she was willing to endure this for the sake of speaking her mind.[31]
"A private trust, the Foundation for Freedom of Expression was established to help fund protection of Ayaan Hirsi Ali and other Muslim dissidents."
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ayaan_Hirsi_Ali
...there had been complaints about the cost of the government providing around-the-clock security for her.
11Sam, you beat me to it, you forgot to add that she was a Dutch member of parliament, born in Somalia, and was the epitome of assimilation. Not the finest example of Dutch courage, I am sorry to say.
12In December of last year Holland's biggest left-wing political grouping, the Labor Party, which has responsibility for integration as a member of the coalition government led by the Christian Democrats, issued a position paper calling for the end of the failed model of Dutch "tolerance." The paper said: "The mistake we can never repeat is stifling criticism of cultures and religions for reasons of tolerance."
I have the original Danish cartoons that pissed them off - I am tempted to post them.

21Thanks for posting this, had i not seen this website http://www.zombietime.com/zomblog/?p=230 I wouldn't have known any of this! Thanks Laine- I love how this is not on any of the MSM news stations. They all say the protests have been peaceful...
22Hainan, just spread the word.
US press is probably only covering US protests. I think the bigger story is the global nature of the protests.
Some of that raw footage is stunning. The protestors backing London police down the street in a steady retreat, throwing occasional roadside items like traffic cones at them...staggering and frightening.
23I am pretty sure in one of the videos that someone hit the police horse on purpose. Sickening! I posted this on my myspace already.
24Anti-semitism, pure and simple. It reeks of the image of brown shirts....
