---- NOT VOTING 3 ---

2Love it Brook. great work.
3Freaking New Jersey!!!!! Armpit of freaking America! I am calling them ASAP. Grandpa you can say good-bye to your nice cheap utilities.
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
4Thanks a lot, New Jersey.
5I wonder if I will be able to call myself a Republican again in my lifetime?
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
6Kick those people out of the party! :kicksasses:
We need an overhaul and it needs to happen now.
7I think the only way an overhaul is going to happen is if we start getting Libertarians into power. There are just no true conservative Republican's left. They are now called Libertarians.
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
8They're now called invisible too.
I know this will all pass and sometimes you have to have the masses see the bad that can come out of things like this... But people are still glazed over.
9I don't know if it will pass. I have this feeling it is going to get very, very bad in America and I have this feeling that the country is going to break apart. I don't see us recovering from this. How? Once taxes happen they are very rarely retracted. I just don't know we will return to a capitalistic society. After this cap and trade is put into affect, there will be no production in the U.S. We don't have banks anymore, and we don't have production, so how are we to succeed? How are we to recover?
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
10I don't know and I don't even totally believe what I wrote up there. I'm just trying not to fall apart here because I know we're doomed.
My dad keeps saying we'll get out of this... I think he says that just to keep going day to day.
In all reality, is there anything we can do? Really, anything?
11Laura that is funny, my dad is the exact opposite. He is convinced we are doomed. My husband and I are so convinced of this we are looking into potentially moving to Hong Kong. I just don't know if we can find jobs that pay us enough to live comfortably, and pay off our school loans with how much we will be taxed. And that is no matter where we live.
Absolute power, corrupts absolutely.
12Maybe I,m being overly optomistic, but I don't see this destroying America. IMO, when this fails, it will destroy America's confidence in the democratic party. When they had total control of both houses, they enacted legislation that drastically hurt the ability of the "average American". The Conservative party needs to nbe ready with viable solutions to this mess, and we'll be rid of this version of the Democrats once and for all.
13I agree with all of you laura, cine and undave. I'm so messed up I go back and forth between what I'm feeling. That being said, bf and I are also looking around at potential other countries to live. I'm really worried about everything that is going to be passed while Stupid is in office and the Dems are running congress. How do you bounce back from all of the bills that will be passed that will ruin our country?

The man who speaks to you of sacrifice, speaks of slaves and masters. And intends to be the master.
14Cibe let Libertarians run in the republican primary, if they can't win in a primary, they can't win in a general election.
15Oh NJ.. you make me ashamed to be a Jersey girl today...
What makes me laugh is that even though this bill will so plainly be complete trainwreck for this country, I STILL have liberal friends who keep telling me that cap and trade "seems fair" and that we "have to do SOMETHING!"
I was actually admonished by a friend for encouraging people to call their representatives, because I'm insane for opposing the "first major energy bill EVER."
UGHHHH....
16I go back and forth about whether I think the country is going to come apart or if we will get through this without such a major action. I'd like to think that when people start seeing half of their paycheck go to the government they are going to get angry and start asking why. But will we be able to do anything about it at that point short of civil war? I don't know.
17Mel, I have the same thing going on here... I'm appalled at the comments people have been making. All without any evidence to back themselves up.
18We are definitely doomed, because they are intentionally destroying our country...UNLESS we stand up and do something about this. I don't think it will take a civil war, skb. But I think it will take a major non-violent action, akin to the civil rights movement.
Cine, I have the same thoughts about Hong Kong or China, and am even planning to learn Mandarin in the next year. My husband and I have also talked about just moving to a country like Belize. I don't want to give up on our country, but if it is hopeless, I will move on.
