Using borrowed money for a band-aid bailout of the economy should seem backwards to most people. However, it likely is a planned strategy to promote radical change. Those naively believing that President Obama is simply rewarding his far-left base, and will then move to the political center, must wise up.

This is written by a so-called conservative. It leaves me dumbfounded.
President Obama and Dick Cheney conspired on Thursday to propagate a myth.

SEIU may be linked to ultimatum on withholding stimulus funds
California officials say the union may have influenced a federal requirement that a pay cut be reversed for home healthcare workers.
By Evan Halper (LA Times)
Reporting from Sacramento -- Officials in the governor's office say a politically powerful union may have had inappropriate influence over the Obama administration's decision to withhold billions of dollars in federal stimulus money from California if the state does not reverse a scheduled wage cut for the labor group's workers.
The officials say they are particularly troubled that the Service Employees International Union, which lobbied the federal government to step in, was included in a conference call in which state and federal officials reviewed the wage cut and the terms of the stimulus package.

Not funny: Barack Obama laughs at Wanda Sykes "joke" about wanting Rush Limbaugh dead
Posted By: Toby Harnden (U.K. Telegraph)
What was Wanda Sykes thinking? Perhaps more to the point, what was President Barack Obama thinking when he laughed and smiled as the comedienne wished Rush Limbaugh dead?

Our Genius President: 'Happy Cuatro de Cinco!'
Posted by Mary Katharine Ham Weekly Standard blog
I like to note these little incidents when they happen, not because I think it makes Obama an idiot because he occasionally stumbles over his words, but because his somewhat overblown reputation as the most cerebral, eloquent, utterly erudite president of all time could really use a pricking every now and then.
Also, because if Bush had made such a blunder, it would have been the basis of a four-part MSNBC investigative series on the malapropism's deleterious effects on the Republican Party's attempts to woo Hispanic voters, Mexican-American relations, and our "place in the world."

O'S AMATEUR HOUR
APPEASING ISLAMISTS IN TURKEY
Ralph Peters (NY Post)
THE real climax of President Obama's Spring Apologies Tour wasn't his photo op with our troops in Baghdad or even his "American Guilt" concerts in Western Europe.
While fans in the press cheered wildly at every venue, the real performance came in Turkey. And it was a turkey.

With a rocket, Obama's hope is shot back down to earth
While the US president's pull may help change the world, North Korea won't be the only state needing a lot of work to convince
o Michael Tomasky in Washington
o UK The Guardian, Monday 6 April 2009
History may one day record it as a stark irony - and let us hope an amusing one rather than the tragic kind - that on the very day that Barack Obama was sketching out to an adoring throng in Prague his vision of a post-nuclear world, North Korea launched a rocket that may one day give it the capacity to fire a nuclear warhead as far as 3,700 miles. This means, to get down to brass tacks, that it could hit Alaska.
The juxtaposition is worth dwelling on.

Obama's Machine Sputters in Effort to Push Budget
Grass-Roots Campaign Has Little Effect
By Dan Eggen
Washington Post Staff Writer
Monday, April 6, 2009; Page A03
When his post-campaign organization was unveiled in January, Barack Obama vowed that the 13 million-strong grass-roots network built during his presidential campaign would play a "crucial role" in enacting his agenda from the White House.
"The change we've worked so hard for will not happen unless ordinary Americans get involved, and supporters like you must lead the way," Obama told backers just before his inauguration.
But in its first big test, the group dubbed Organizing for America (OFA) had little obvious impact on the debate over President Obama's budget, which passed Congress on Thursday with no Republican support and a splintering of votes among conservative Democrats.

Mayor Karzai signs pro-rape bill in Afghanistan, scapegoats the Shi'a
Tuesday March 31, 2009
Categories: Hirabah Watch, Nation-Building
In an explicit bid to appease hard-line Islamists, Afghanistan's "president" 1 Hamid Karzai has signed a bill into law that essentially legalizes rape of a woman by her husband:
Critics claim the president helped rush the bill through parliament in a bid to appease Islamic fundamentalists ahead of elections in August.
In a massive blow for women's rights, the new Shia Family Law negates the need for sexual consent between married couples, tacitly approves child marriage and restricts a woman's right to leave the home.
