Reality check for Vice President Joe Biden
SHREVEPORT, LA (KSLA channel 12, Ark-Tex-LA) - Giving the republican response to President Obama's speech Tuesday night, Governor Bobby Jindal pointed out fundamental differences in how republicans and democrats see the economy.
"But what I don't understand from Governor Jindal is what would he do?," asks Joe Biden while on the Early Show.
That rhetorical question to Governor Jindal on the Early Show, was followed with this.

Reason.tv did this parody of Bud Light's "Real Men of Genius" campaign, starring our buddy Joe Biden. I just thought it was funny (and I love the original ads).

Biden Reinforces the Point posted by Shannen Coffin
Vice President Cheney had a little fun at his successor-to-be's expense today, telling Fox News Sunday that he didn't take Joe Biden's criticism of his tenure too seriously because Joe Biden doesn't know the Constitution from a hole in the ground. Bill Sammon reports that Cheney said: "Joe's been chairman of the Judiciary Committee, a member of the Judiciary Committee in the Senate for 36 years, teaches constitutional law back in Delaware, and can't keep straight which article of the Constitution provides for the legislature and which provides for the executive. So I think I'd write that off as campaign rhetoric.

My apologies if you've heard this already but it's really good stuff.
Apparently one of my local news anchors (Mrs. Barbara West) took her opportunity to speak to Joe Biden and actually ask some hard ball questions.

Biden on Sunday said to donors in Seattle: This is long but worth the read. As scary as all this is, apparently it is not worth covering, yet Obama vacationing and Palin's wardrobe is.
“Mark my words,” the Democratic vice presidential nominee warned at the second of his two Seattle fundraisers Sunday.

***********PUBLIC POST**********
Here's the link: http://www.factcheck.org/elections-2008/sliming_palin.html
Here's the highlights:
- Palin did not cut funding for special needs education in Alaska by 62 percent. She didn’t cut it at all. In fact, she increased funding and signed a bill that will triple per-pupil funding over three years for special needs students with high-cost requirements.

***********PUBLIC POST**********
Check out the article here - http://www.cnn.com/2008/POLITICS/10/03/debate.words/
Some highlights:
- (candidates spoke at) Grade level: Biden, 7.8; Palin, 9.5 (Newspapers are typically written to a sixth-grade reading level.)
- Sentences per paragraph: statistically tied at 2.7 for Biden and 2.6 for Palin.
- Letters per word: tied at 4.4.
The reason I found this to be interesting is that recently I had an exchange on a thread with an ardent Obama supporter who actually argued that Biden being so long winded was because of how intelligent he is....

With a Wink and a Smile
A citizen-politician runs for veep.
By Mark Steyn
Back in February, several political lifetimes ago, I was on the radio with Laura Ingraham and she played Stevie Wonder’s campaign song for Barack Obama, whose lyric, in its entirety, runs:
Ba-rack O-ba-ma
Ba-a-rack O-ba-a-ma
Ba-ra-ack Obama-a...
(Repeat until coronation.)
And Laura and I had a good laugh about it, until it occurred to me that, in politics as in pop, the tune is more important than the words.

Joe says: John McCain and Sarah Palin "are proposing the largest increase on middle class taxpayers in American history....It will cost the middle class over one trillion dollars in additional taxes. It is almost unbelievable." --Joe Biden campaign rally, Greensburg, PA.

This is public because I want people to see it!
I just read this piece about Joe from ABC News - http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalpunch/2008/09/oh-that-joe--12.html
Some highlights:
- Speaking at a Democratic Fundraiser to lawyers: "We're going to need you going into election time, because we're going to mobilize thousands of lawyers to make sure they don't steal another election."
- "He's an honorable, decent man, but John McCain truly believes, truly believes that you are corporate America's problem," he said to the trial lawyers.
